• November 24

Our practice will be held at Kearny Mesa Park and Rec., 3170 Armstrong Street, San Diego.

We have secured the big field #8 – YEAH! This field is much safer than we’ve ever had in the past. It’s wide with clear views of the dogs from start to finish.  Members will start running dogs at 8:00 a.m. followed by non-member dogs at 9:00 a.m.

Volunteers: We will need volunteers to help set up the field. Volunteers need to be at the field no later than 7:15-7:30 a.m. Remember, without at least 4 volunteers each practice, we will not be able to run the race practice. Please let us know at least 48 hrs. in advance if you can help by sending a message to: GreaterSanDiegoWhippets@gmail.com

We are looking forward to seeing you at one of our 2024 race practices.

Race Practice Rules: Our club has seen a surge in attendance at our monthly race practices, and we need to introduce some new procedures. Our race practices are open only to sighthounds. The first round of practice will be for GSDWA members only and will begin at 8:00am. Anyone (including members) arriving 15 minutes or later after we start will join in on the second round. Start time is 9:00am for non-members. If we have started the second round prior to 9:00am, we will fit you in. Non-members’ dogs will get a third run at the end of practice, if time permits. We will run three rounds of practice as usual, but with a maximum of 30 runs per round. (This is 30 runs, not 30 dogs, so those who have trained dogs are encouraged to run their dog/s with another to maximize our time.)

Time: Practices are usually on the 4th Sunday of the month from 8:00am to 12:00pm.Please be on time or we won’t be able to give your dog all its runs.

Cost: $10 per dog for GSDWA members$15 per dog for non-GSDWA members

What to Bring: a secure crate for each dog (no soft crates, please) snug-fitting collar on each dog that they can’t back out of (martingale collar recommended) 2 leashes (1 for releasing and 1 for the catcher) water and bowl for dog(s) chair for yourself.
